About PakSpeed

Our Mission

PakSpeed was developed by the creative engineers at WANG (Welfare Association for New Generation) and Urdu AI with a singular vision: to bring a beautiful, lightning-fast, and fully localized internet speed testing tool to Pakistan. We realized that existing global tools lacked proper Urdu translation and failed to give Pakistani users a centralized dashboard comparing local ISPs directly against one another.

Our City Rankings and ISP Comparison pages aim to create total transparency. By combining your real-world speed test results with geographically clustered data, we empower everyday consumers to answer questions like: "Is Zong really faster than Jazz in Lahore?" or "Should I switch to StormFiber in Karachi?"

Methodology

We believe in full transparency about how we measure internet speed. Here is our step-by-step process:

1

Cloudflare Edge CDN

Tests run against Cloudflare's global edge network with PoPs in Pakistani cities (Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad) for accurate local measurements.

2

Web Worker Threading

Speed tests run in a dedicated browser Web Worker thread, preventing UI interference and ensuring accurate throughput measurement.

3

Multi-Stream Testing

Multiple parallel TCP connections saturate your link, measuring true available bandwidth just like real-world usage patterns.

4

Crowdsourced Data

Results are aggregated from real users across Pakistan. No synthetic tests. Every data point comes from an actual speed test.

What We Measure

  1. Ping (Latency): Round-trip time for a signal to travel to the nearest Cloudflare edge server and back. Measured in milliseconds (ms). Lower is better. Under 30ms is excellent for gaming and video calls.
  2. Jitter: The variance in ping measurements over time. Low jitter means a stable, consistent connection. High jitter causes lag spikes and video buffering.
  3. Download Speed: Measured in Megabits per second (Mbps). How quickly you receive data from the internet. Determines streaming quality, file download times, and page load speeds.
  4. Upload Speed: Also in Mbps. How quickly you send data to the internet. Critical for video calling, live streaming, uploading files, and cloud backups.

Data Transparency

Every test result includes ISP identification (via IP geolocation), city detection, and connection type. We use this data exclusively for:

  • Powering our city rankings and ISP comparisons
  • Contributing to Pakistan's digital divide research
  • Helping users make informed ISP decisions

Why PakSpeed is Different

We strictly prioritize user experience and measurement accuracy. PakSpeed operates securely over HTTPS through the Cloudflare Edge network, meaning test servers sit at major internet exchange points ensuring your results reflect the actual backbone performance of your ISP (PTCL, Nayatel, StormFiber, Jazz, Zong, Telenor, etc.) rather than an arbitrary remote server overseas.

Key Differentiators

The Team

PakSpeed is built and maintained by WALI (WANG Lab of Innovation), the technology arm of WANG (Welfare Association for New Generation). WALI is also behind Urdu AI, Pakistan's Urdu language AI platform with 50,000+ downloads on the Google Play Store.

Leadership

Qaisar Roonjha — CEO & Founder, WALI and Urdu AI. Leading a team of Pakistani engineers committed to bridging the digital divide through accessible, localized technology tools.
